Key Points

The July 2024 auto market had sales of 46,394 units, down 20.6% year-on-year. The passenger car market slowed down by 26.4% with sales of 16,571 units. The commercial vehicle market also slowed down by 16.9% with sales of 29,823 units. The 1-ton pickup truck market slowed down with sales of 16,125 units, down 35.5%. The xEV market had total sales of 17,243 units, accounting for 37.2% of the total auto market, up 41.4% year-on-year. Sales of HEV vehicles grew by 44.3% with sales of 9,203 units, while sales of BEV vehicles were 7,265 units, up 48%.

The automotive market in August is expected to improve from July, but growth is still slowing compared to the same period last year, which is a result of stricter lending by financial institutions and the overall economic situation. The launch of new car models and special promotions from various car manufacturers at the “ BIG MOTOR SALE 2024” event, which this year comes with the concept of “Bring your showroom here to sell”, may help stimulate consumer purchasing decisions and may result in a slight increase in sales.
